CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
7:15-8am Hot HIIT with Harry
This is a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) class, carried out in a moderate heat using Pilates principles so that despite being highly intense, is low impact on your joints.
Done with a motivating soundtrack, expect to work hard, burn calories and increase your cardiovascular fitness.
8:30-9:30am Rocket Yoga with Hannah
This a style of yoga developed by Larry Schultz in San Francisco during the 1980s. Based in the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa, it is a dynamic and fast-paced flow of yoga. The structure is similar to that of Ashtanga Vinyasa, consisting of a warm-up (Surya Namaskar A + B), standing poses, seated poses and ending with the traditional closing series.
A modern approach to a traditional style of yoga, this class is taught with inspiring music and students are encouraged to make their own interpretation of the traditional asana by removing or modifying binding postures. This makes the sequence accessible to all.
10-11am Pilates with Louise
Our Pilates class is suitable for all abilities as we teach from the ground upwards and offer modifications where needed. We have 6 classes a week on the timetable with a dedicated team of experienced teachers.
Pilates uses the body & the mind and requires a good level of concentration, which allows us to switch off from the outside world during our practice. Breath work forms part of the focus of our class, enabling us to enhance the effectiveness of each exercise, diffuse tension, and support relaxation.
With regular practice you will become more in tune with your body, have better alignment, control, and flow of movement. Posture will improve and muscles will become stronger and leaner, along with better joint mobility & flexibility.
Pilates is a great way to help you come into exercise or back to it following time away. It is proven to support rehabilitation following both injury & surgery too.
11:30-12:30 Embodied Flow Yoga with Genna
A yoga practice of your heart, transmitted by the principles of Hatha yoga and Ujjayi breath—a celebration of the sacred polarities present in all of us. Inspired by the heart of yoga and rhythmic embodied breath principles.
Genna will lead you through fluid, sensory-rich movements, emphasising breath dynamics to stimulate the nervous system, while allowing you to move at your own pace. Together, we will flow through intuitive breath cycles, create sound through rhythmic movement, and fully embrace the joy of being ourselves.
This class is open to all and may particularly resonate with those interested in exploring subtle energies or deepening their yoga practice to cultivate a strong, empowered sense of self while soothing psychosocial stressors.
1:30-2:30pm Hatha Yoga with Bhavesh
Some things never go out of fashion. Great yoga is one of them. Hatha Yoga traditions take you back to where yoga all began and is designed to allow time to explore and really understand each pose in full.
This Open Level class is designed to provide a balanced combination of sustained poses with attention to alignment and therapeutic principles. Some flowing movement may be included at the beginning to warm up major muscle groups prior to the practice of asanas but ‘flowing’ through is not integral to the practice style.
Expect to smile your way in and out of some fun yoga challenges during one of our hands down, truly fantastic, ‘old school’ yoga classes.
3-4pm Vinyasa Yoga with Bhavesh
Vinyasa is a type of yoga that links movement and breath to attain balance in body and mind. From the Sanskrit ‘to place in a special way’, Vinyasa aligns a deliberate sequence of poses with the breath to achieve a continuous flow.
At these up-tempo classes expect rhythms of music and ‘hands on’ adjustments to ensure you get maximum benefit from your practice. In these often more demanding classes you may built up a sweat, and through a coordination of breath and movement.
4:30-5:30pm Restorative Yoga with Sue*
Restoration is essential in any physical practice. In Restorative yoga, the ‘rest and digest’ part of the nervous system is activated and the body and mind are given permission to relax and recover. Largely based on the teachings of B.K.S Iyengar, Restorative yoga is used to ground and centre by gentle movements, passive stretching and postures.
This class will help you to become more flexible, calm a restless mind and reduce pain when practiced regularly. Typically, we hold a posture 2-5 minutes using blocks, bolsters blankets and straps to ensure a comforted and supported body. You will feel a subtle yet clear opening in the area being stretched.
*Also suitable for pregnant ladies, after their 1st trimester.
